1966 R69S BMW Super sharp R69S triple numbers matching. Excellent restored bike with beautiful bright chrome, low miles newer tires, professionally polished aluminum, frame off. Great running and ride ready to go anywhere. The cosmetics are wonderful. This bike is so nice that it is stunning, sometimes I get sick of the praise it receives when I am out and about (but not entirely). Everything is great paint, chrome, rubber, tires, speedometer gauge face, etc!!!!!!! The engine runs like new and has excellent compression. I was told the engine was rebuilt by the previous owner but I don't have any documentation to that effect. It runs like new I can say that. The motor has no smoke on start up and while running sounds absolutely normal and healthy with that nice vintage BMW sound. Oil seals are good and bike is dry underneath. I would not be afraid to ride this bike coast to coast and having said that we have a commercial airport nearby so a buyer could fly in and drive out with the bike. The bike has some wear from saddle bags on the paint. It is light and hard to see but it is there on shock towers. There are a few minor chips in the paint that are also hard to notice. One spot is the earls fork swing arm and another is the top of the fork cover, triple tree top plate. Gas tank and headlight bucket are great nice paint and no dents and gas tank is mint on the inside. I am including a set of chrome passenger foot pegs as I lost one of the foot pegs while riding. I have "For Sale" a nice 1975 BMW R90/6 with 62,533 miles on it. It has the hard to find Lester mag wheel option, a Corbin comfort seat, new AGM battery and a new old stock, 1979, R100, transmission. The transmission change was done about 3,000 miles ago to solve the stock transmission notorious shifting problems. Other than that, as far as I can tell, it is a 40 year old, unrestored, original that is ready to ride anywhere. I ride it on regular bases and would take it cross country today. This is just a nice old bike that runs great but would need some light cosmetic work to make perfect. Please ask questions before you bid. This is a fantastic GS, and I'll miss it terribly. I bought it in 2003 in its stock form and then added pretty much all the accessories one could want on an adventure bike. It is ready for Alaska today! This bike is for best for taller riders. I am 6"5 with a 36" inseam and I have modified this bike to fit me. Aftermarket shocks from Wilburs raise the bike 1.5". The seat is taller and mounted on 1/2" shims. You could change the ride height with new springs from Wilburs. Basically, it's just a bit taller than the GS Adventure model. And this bike has been on some epic adventures all over the country. Lots of trips out west, across the rockies on dirt roads, up the PCH, through BC, Utah, etc etc. It's always run strong and never left ne stranded once. No accidents, though it has tipped over off-road some and has a few dings here and there. Everything works great, though it could use a tune-up. I have always maintained this machine obsessively. It has all new final drive bearings and swing-arm bearings. The rubber boots around the transmission output and final-drive pivot were replaced. (This is a huge job that all shaft-drive BMWs will require eventually. The rubber rots.) I have installed the better and newer type of hydraulic cam chain tensioners. Motor ticks smoothly. The valves are fully set in. I check the clearances every 12K, but they have not needed adjustment for many years now. Just did an oil change. This bike does not surge at low rpm! (Many of this era do) Upgrades/Parts: Wilburs shocks with adjustable pre-load and rebound damping - They were rebuilt about 10K ago. Springs can be changed to suit your weight. Bill Meyer Saddle, memory foam. Taller and wider than stock seat and very comfortable. Crash bars - I forget the brand name, but they work great. I had them powder-coated. PIAA 520 lights. HUGE lights. One of them is a long-range spot, and the other is wide. Amazing trail visibility, and the amber color is very noticeable in traffic. Headlight modulator - cars will see you. Aeroflow windshield Stainless Y-pipe replaces catalytic converter for a little boost in torque and better sound. (You can have the catalytic if you want it.) Gerbing heated clothing controller, adjustment knob installed in dash. Galfer Green brake pads Metzler Tourance EXP tires, maybe 2/3 tread left. Fastway footpegs, cleat style External fuel filter mod 3rd brakelight mounted on top-case Stainless brake lines BMW system cases An amazing machine. But it's time for a new owner.
