The Kreem lining on the inside of the fuel tank was in poor conditioned so we removed it with acetone then acid etched the inside and re-lined it with POR15 for decades more of trouble free use. This 1970 R75/5 has been set up for 2-UP Touring. Both wheel hubs had the bearings serviced and new stainless spokes were installed in the rear wheel and trued (the front wheel had already been done). We also took off the 2 into 1 header and installed nice used OEM headers and new OEM replica /5 ? cigar tip? style mufflers. the Tank and front fender have been repainted and hand pinstripped as original. the previous owner had installed a 5 speed transmission instead of fixing the rumbling bearings on the stock 4 speed. There are shallow imperfections on both items not immediately noticeable until the light hits it just right. We chose to also leave those items like that. We resealed the left cylinder as the pushrod tube seals were leaking; the right is in good condition. While we were there we removed the clutch and cleaned up the friction disc and replaced the outer pressure plate with a resurfaced one. the clutch splines were also lubed at that point. the flaws: Before Powdercoating the previous owner failed to have the metal perfect on 2 items the headlight bucket and the right headlight mount. the previous owner recovered the seat with a new stock style cover with passenger grab strap and he painted the seat pan. We installed a new ignition switch and replaced the cracked circuit board with a good used one and straightened out the rewiring errors made by the previous owner. the Title is clear. It has had the frame subframe swingarm centerstand headlight mount ears headlight bucket and front turn signal mounts powdercoated in gloss black. We picked out a nice low mileage used 4 speed transmission opened it up and inspected and resealed it and reinstalled it in the bike. Deep Major Service (10K) + Cosmetic restoration. the Cosmetic restoration was started by one owner continued by the next owner and finally finished by us. We finished with an end-to-end 10K Service and a 1000 mile test ride to be sure everything was PERFECT (alright it was just so nice that we just wanted to ride it for a while!). the engine frame and neck badge numbers all match. We built a new LWB seat using all new parts on an original 1974 metal pan and is now the correct length. Tires are like new. the Dyna III ignition is a good upgrade; we? ll leave it but move the main unit out of site to the frame backbone. the bike comes with the original tool kit hand pump and Owner? s Manual. We did notice a few things that we wanted to address in an effort to make it PERFECT and as ORIGINAL as it came from the factory;. the bike had Incorrect hand grips and the centerstand tine was missing. the front disc was a 1975 on drilled disc; we planned to put an original 1974 disc back on it. New original round front footpeg rubbers and NEW NLA (No Longer Available from BMW) original round rear footpeg assemblies were sourced and installed. Only 627 Miles! 1974 R75/6. Braided Stainless front brake line (we decided to leave this instead of restoring it to rubber). the drilled front disc has been exchanged for the correct 1974 only non-drilled disc. the horn was functional but was not the correct one with black body and chrome disc in front. the FIRST off the line. It didn? t really NEED service but we wanted to know that we had addressed everything and that nothing was missed. We have now finished all the changes necessary to make this beautiful BMW just a bit more perfect and much closer to ? Original? as it came from the factory. the engine and frame numbers match. It is very close to what a new 1974 R75/6 would have been like when picked up from a Dealer; a truly wonderful machine to ride!
