Endless Riding Pleasure. The R 1200 RT. As far as two-cylinder fans are concerned, first-class touring has a memorable abbreviation - and it’s been around for 30 years: RT. For long-haul travelers there can hardly be any other term which has always stood for perfectly conceived motorcycling concept from start to finish; excellent wind and weather protection, optimum ergonomics, highly convenient operation combined with a top-class chassis fitted with the unique optional extras ASC and ESA II*. In the touring segment, these features probably define the ultimate benchmark of innovation. Even though the R 1200 RT cuts a superb figure everywhere with its dynamic new design, everything about it sends out the message; built to cover thousands of miles, preferably in one go. Then there is this fascinating mixture of distinctive engine and big bike dynamics. The characteristic “boxer” supremacy has been further enhanced in the current version; the engine’s crowning glory is now the radial DOHC** valve operating system from the HP2 Sport, though here designed for greater torque and without any loss of running smoothness; maximum torque 120 Newton meters, at 6,000 revolutions per minute, rated output still at 81 kilowatts (110 bhp). This means a tangible increase in thrust from the lower engine speed range through to above the medium range. The new valve control in the exhaust system ensures a discreet but more dynamic sound. And in terms of comfort, the bike boasts a new audio system available as an optional extra, with the innovative operating concept Multi-Controller carrying out virtually all commands from a single unit. So there’s only one thing you have to do yourself - drop by for a test ride. *ESA II = Electronic Suspension Adjustment. Electronic spring mount and spring rate adjustment ** DOHC = Double Overhead Camshaft, two overhead camshafts per cylinder

What a motorcycle. For some people it’s a universal tool which practically never fails them - whether on a local run, the daily journey to work or weekend trips with or without gravel passages. For others it’s a way of life - just the right machine for every tour, whether a one-week trip for two into local motorcycling territory or fulfilling the dream of a lifetime thousands of miles away from home. The “GS” is not just able to handle everything, it is actually built to do so. And in this synthesis of easy handling, supreme touring suitability, off-road potential and comfort for rider and pillion passenger, there’s simply no other motorcycle which does it better. That’s not just what we think: it’s the result of independent tests worldwide.Yet the current version goes one step further still - with a level of 2-cylinder power which is unsurpassed, and not just within its own segment. The reason is the new DOHC engine which first displayed its impressive performance in the legendary HP2 Sport. For the R 1200 GS, torque was given higher priority than output in line with practical considerations. And you can feel it. The 88 ft. lbs. of torque at the peak at 6,000 rpm is one thing, but the consistently higher level of torque in the relevant range up to 5,000 rpm can be fully experienced. The output has been increased to 110 hp at 7,750 rpm.The supreme riding pleasure is underscored by a powerful sound from the new exhaust system with exhaust flap which will everyone will love. Together with the new paint finishes, a wide range of special equipment features such as the unique off-road ESA and ASC and extensive motorcycle fittings, there is virtually no situation in which the R 1200 GS doesn’t fit perfectly. And that applies to all riders - so take a test ride now!

C is for “cruiser” and C is for “classic,” but there’s nothing average about this machine. As much a head-turner as a curve-swallower the R 1200 C combines the best of old-school styling and modern-day technology. Light for its class, this cruiser soaks up bumps, corners like a sport bike, prowels ominously at low-speeds and rips up the road when unleashed. And with so many ways to individualize it, C might also stand for “custom.”

From design concept to the new R 1200 R. The new R 1200 R marks the status quo in terms of aesthetic appeal, dynamic performance and design. When our developers put forward their visions in the BMW Concept Roadster, this new bike was their greatest source of inspiration. And that's no surprise - after all, the new R 1200 R is a powerful machine that combines comfort, athletic flair and design in an entirely unique way. Ground-breaking design. Compact, tight, muscular - the bike's new design sets it clearly apart from its predecessor. The upside down telescopic fork based on the S 1000 RR not only gives this powerhouse a striking appearance but also ensures stability and precise handling. With the sharply drawn lines along the fuel tank and the seamless transition across the seat to the rear, this roadster has a look that perfectly matches the way it rides. Individual style. For the first time, the new R 1200 R is available not just in the basic paint finish but also in two additional styles, so as to ensure the design does even more justice to riders' individual preferences: in classic, timeless Cordoba Blue or in athletic Light White with engine spoiler in body color and frame in striking Racing Red or stylish and exclusive Thunder Grey Metallic with a golden fork (only available with the option Dynamic ESA). Cutting-edge technology. The R 1200 R is ahead of its time in terms of technology, too. A total of 125 hp provides plenty of power in the new R 1200 R. Together with the riding modes that can be accessed at the press of a button, the optionally available traction control (DTC) puts this power effectively to the asphalt. The rider has everything in view and under control thanks to the redesigned and expanded instrument panel. Outstanding individual flair. The range of accessories available for the R 1200 R is especially impressive: tank bag, BMW Navigator V and four different windshields are the perfect preparation for a big tour, while the latest generation of the optional Dynamic ESA further increases riding dynamics in the R 1200 R. Innovative features such as the BMW multi-controller, Shift Assistant Pro and Keyless Ride turn a sports-style roadster into a genuine all-rounder. There are also a range of painstaking details such as the milled hand lever and rider footrests or the crash bar in electropolished stainless steel which strike a perfect balance between functional tuning and visual customization. The roadster revolution is beginning.
