I bought this bike 10 years ago, barely running as a project. Found a good low mileage engine in California from an '81 R65LS, installed with new clutch by BMW Charlotte NC. Since then ( it was a slow process) the brake pads and shoes were replaced as were the wheel bearings. Steering head bearing and swing arm bearings cleaned and lubed. Clutch and drive splines lubed 3 yrs and about 3000 miles ago. It's on it's third speedometer ; an Indian replica ,looks good, doesn't work, hence the mileage is unknown. It has however been my primary vehicle for a few years until I replaced it with a larger, newer bike (K100RS) and just can't keep two bikes anymore. It's just had a tune up ,carbs rebuilt (again) and synced (Champion BMW Charleston) It starts right up and runs great. Everything works but the speedo and the side stand return , has both side and center stand. It will need a new front tire due to age not wear and it's started to weep a bit of oil from the left side push rod seals. Comes with large tank bag, solo and dual seat and spare mufflers. It's a well worn , good running and riding air head in need of a new home.
