This frame off custom BMW R100 began as a 1978 BMW R80/7 and was designed to maintain the classic styling of pre-war BMW racing motorcycles while having the performance and handling of a more modern machine. To achieve this, the engine has milled heads, higher compression and dual plugging; giving it a bit more power and torque with reliability. The clutch and transmission are completely rebuilt to stock specifications. There is a longer rear drive on the machine to allow for lower revs at highway speeds given the 1,000cc engine. The front forks have been built with Racetech cartridge emulators which provide more predictable, stable handling combined with Hagon rear shocks. It has a midly aggressive riding position with clip on handlabrs but the bike is comfortable for 100 mile runs through the country. Much of the aesthetic was borrowed from the /5 series BMWs, the gas tank, side covers, seat, forks, front drum hub wheel and brake, tail light and turn indicators, knurled /5 polished levers, switch gear controls are from this classic generation and style. The bike has a motogadget instrument (made in germany) and Hoske replica silencers. It has a very deep, throaty sound without being too loud. Gloss black paint and hand pinstriped in BMW off-white on the fenders and gas tank with BMW factory tank knee pads finish off the look of this incredible classic motorcycle. No expense has been spared in the design and construction, full stainless steel hardware even in places you can't see. The look, feel, sound and ride experience of this bike is pretty desirable. The feel is long, low and lean; timeless. This bike was built by Darrell Faulkenberry (Owner of Second Wind) and belongs to one of our staff.

From design concept to the new R 1200 R. The new R 1200 R marks the status quo in terms of aesthetic appeal, dynamic performance and design. When our developers put forward their visions in the BMW Concept Roadster, this new bike was their greatest source of inspiration. And that's no surprise - after all, the new R 1200 R is a powerful machine that combines comfort, athletic flair and design in an entirely unique way. Ground-breaking design. Compact, tight, muscular - the bike's new design sets it clearly apart from its predecessor. The upside down telescopic fork based on the S 1000 RR not only gives this powerhouse a striking appearance but also ensures stability and precise handling. With the sharply drawn lines along the fuel tank and the seamless transition across the seat to the rear, this roadster has a look that perfectly matches the way it rides. Individual style. For the first time, the new R 1200 R is available not just in the basic paint finish but also in two additional styles, so as to ensure the design does even more justice to riders' individual preferences: in classic, timeless Cordoba Blue or in athletic Light White with engine spoiler in body color and frame in striking Racing Red or stylish and exclusive Thunder Grey Metallic with a golden fork (only available with the option Dynamic ESA). Cutting-edge technology. The R 1200 R is ahead of its time in terms of technology, too. A total of 125 hp provides plenty of power in the new R 1200 R. Together with the riding modes that can be accessed at the press of a button, the optionally available traction control (DTC) puts this power effectively to the asphalt. The rider has everything in view and under control thanks to the redesigned and expanded instrument panel. Outstanding individual flair. The range of accessories available for the R 1200 R is especially impressive: tank bag, BMW Navigator V and four different windshields are the perfect preparation for a big tour, while the latest generation of the optional Dynamic ESA further increases riding dynamics in the R 1200 R. Innovative features such as the BMW multi-controller, Shift Assistant Pro and Keyless Ride turn a sports-style roadster into a genuine all-rounder. There are also a range of painstaking details such as the milled hand lever and rider footrests or the crash bar in electropolished stainless steel which strike a perfect balance between functional tuning and visual customization. As far as two-cylinder fans are concerned, first-class touring has a memorable abbreviation - and it’s been around for 30 years: RT. For long-haul travelers there can hardly be any other term which has always stood for perfectly conceived motorcycling concept from start to finish: excellent wind and weather protection, optimum ergonomics, highly convenient operation combined with a top-class chassis fitted with the unique optional extras ASC and ESA II*. In the touring segment, these features probably define the ultimate benchmark of innovation. Even though the R 1200 RT cuts a superb figure everywhere with its dynamic new design, everything about it sends out the message: built to cover thousands of miles, preferably in one go. Then there is this fascinating mixture of distinctive engine and big bike dynamics. The characteristic “boxer” supremacy has been further enhanced in the current version: the engine’s crowning glory is now the radial DOHC** valve operating system from the HP2 Sport, though here designed for greater torque and without any loss of running smoothness: maximum torque 88 foot pounds at 6,000 rpm, rated output still at 110 horsepower. This means a tangible increase in thrust from the lower engine speed range through to above the medium range. The new valve control in the exhaust system ensures a discreet but more dynamic sound. And in terms of comfort, the bike boasts a new audio system available as an optional extra, with the innovative operating concept Multi-Controller carrying out virtually all commands from a single unit. So there’s only one thing you have to do yourself - drop by for a test ride. *ESA II = Electronic Suspension Adjustment. Electronic spring mount and spring rate adjustment ** DOHC = Double Overhead Camshaft, two overhead camshafts per cylinder

Even the long road home will feel too short. Combining the potent torque of the BMW Boxer engine with the sophisticated design and smooth ride of a premium-touring machine, the R 1200 RT delivers an optimal mix of excitement and ergonomics. It’s equally at home nimbly leaning into a Rocky Mountain pass or gliding gracefully over a grey slash of Montana highway. A two-section adjustable seat, electric windshield, and BMW’s rider-tested Paralever and Telelever suspension systems all contribute to the uncompromising comfort of the R 1200 RT – mile after mile after mile. Add to this a modular luggage system with plenty of capacity, and optional extras like the Navigator II system, and the only limit to how far you can go is how much time you take off of work and how much gas money you have in your pocket.
