1959 BMW R26 Original Survivor 10K miles Triple Matching Numbers Up for auction is my beloved 1959 BMW R26 single cylinder 250cc motorcycle. This bike comes with the original tools, owner’s manual and factory sales brochures from 1959. This bike has only 10,658 original miles from new. It still wears its original black paint and White pin striping and is a triple matching numbers bike. Serial number 363195 on the chassis ID plate matches the frame and engine / gearbox. The engine is the original single cylinder 250cc and has a 4 speed gearbox (one down 3 up). It runs and drives as a 10K mile bike should. Its quiet and silky smooth, a pure pleasure to ride. Pull out the Black starter knob, the Red and Green neutral lights come on, slightly turn the throttle and the bike starts within two or three kicks. It idles steady and pulls right away and runs strong. Everything is bone stock original !!! except the seat. I have the original twin seat that comes with the bike. High beams, low beams, signals, horn and Red Ignition and Green Neutral lights all work. Horn sounds a little funky. I have the original owners manual from 1959, tool kit and sales brochures!!!!. I have a folder with files from the past owner and some old photos. I also have two sets of keys and two original bench seats and a chrome rim. I bought a new battery last year and two new German Baum side view mirrors. Tires are continental and are in great condition. Aluminum rims are original. The paint overall is in really nice condition. There is a minor nick on the gas tank and on the rear fender that I touched up and the kick stand shows some wear. The cables and the rubber on the grips and on the pedals appear to be all original. As far as I know, the engine was never apart or messed with. Clutch and brakes all work well. Bike stops with ease. Gearbox is quiet and shifts nicely. There are no oil leaks or blue smoke. Wheels are aluminum with Continental tires. I installed the Pagusa single seat, spark plug, fuel line and gas filter. I purchased this bike several years ago from a collector in Pennsylvania who bought it at a Canadian auction many years before. The past owners retained its original tools and owners manuals from 1959. I have some sales materials as well that was collected through the years. It was for me a really great find. Not many of these single cylinder 250cc bikes were imported into the US and exist in the US today. Americans wanted the twin engine more powerful bikes in the day and overlooked these popular European single cylinder bikes. Today in Europe they are very difficult to find because they were used as daily transportation. Now very few of them are left. Closing: The bike is currently insured and registered in my name and I have a transferrable registration. Its garaged and covered in Huntington, New York. This is a 56 year old bike so it is sold “AS IS” with no expressed or implied warrantee or guarantees. I am not a broker or a dealer so this is a private sale that is final. It is sold “WHERE IS” in Huntington, New York and if transported will be the cost of the buyer. I have set a reasonable reserve on the bike. This bike will make a great museum or show piece. If you are a serious buyer and have any questions or need any detailed photos please call me at 631-339-3349 or contact me through E-Bay email by asking me a question. I will sell to Europe/ worldwide and to anyone who appreciates this incredible machine. I have the right to end this auction early since I will advertise on other venues. I will request a $500 deposit within 48 hours and the balance shortly thereafter and will hold the bike for you until payment and transportation has been made. Two college tuitions this August forces sale. Thanks for your interest. Dave.
