This bright Piedmont Red Metallic example is a great and operable PROJECT BIKE that will require very little to get back on the road in totally safe and roadworthy shape. In fact it's almost there now! The K12RS is a fantastic sport/sport touring machine and has a long history of pleasing its owners over the years. The lucky buyer who grabs this one should get great value for the money spent for many years and miles ahead. And while it is a PROJECT BIKE there is plenty of value here and nearly a turnkey purchase that simply does not meet or insanely high standards for what we'd classify as a good used or ADVANTAGE CERTIFED offering. Not everyone will even care about the small to medium array of minor scrapes and nicks the prior owner accumulated, touched up but selected to not address on a high cosmetic level – some people just like to ride.
We feel this machine is a great PROJECT BIKE to get back on the road and have a ton of fun with because the K12RS is a fantastic sport/sport touring machine. Period. This example arrived in a very high cosmetic level rating after completing our very picky evaluation process. But it does not run because it's been sitting unused for the last 18 or so months. That's why it's a PROJECT BIKE. But because it has such low original mileage and is so beautiful we are confident someone will want to take it on, make the investment, get it back on the road and have a lot of FUN.
We still don't get enough of these sweet bikes to satisfy the regular demand and the K1200R is a machine that we believe will continue to be desirable for years to come simply because it is so much fun to ride. Heck it can be both a street bike and a track bike and loaded up with luggage a very capable sport tourer. There's a top management guy at BMW who has a really tricked out example he regularly uses on the track. So get your imagination going and get in here to check it out; based on the few past offerings it will not be here long.According to the history on this specific bike this bike has had just one owner. It first came into Bob's in 2014 when he moved into the area and the bike had just 16,500 miles. It was due for lots of scheduled maintenance plus an few outstanding recalls plus it was in need of a fresher battery and new tires.
Quite a few K1200GT's have come and gone this year, a few never even made it to the website because the smartest clients we have in this area of the business know to give us a call and ask what is headed our way, just arrived or we've simply not had time to photograph and write up for the website as yet. This machine was originally going to be a PROJECT BIKE and sold AS IS but it was just too nice cosmetically and mechanically even though it had a few needs. So we elected to invest in making it better all-around before sending it off to a new home. Now that we've serviced it, someone looking for a great value in a large displacement touring machine will be very excited.
With a new front tire, a fresh battery and perhaps some fresh fluids this PROJECT BIKE would likely get you out to the west coast and back in pretty decent comfort and style. But it is not perfect so we will share the flaws we know it has plus any we can speculate on because it is a PROJECT BIKEafter all and then you can decide if it's just what you and your budget and perhaps that space in the garage has been in search of.We want our customers to be in a position to always make an informed decision when spending money; it's been like that for more than 35 years. And please read this all because we feel we saved the best details for last.
This is a machine we never get enough of to satisfy general demand and is also a machine that we believe will continue to be a desirable bike simply because it is so much fun to ride. Heck it can be both a street bike and a track bike and there's one higher up at BMW who has a really fine tricked out example he regularly uses on the track. So get your imagination going and get in here to check it out as based on past offerings it will not be here long. And they typically demand good money – often 2 to 3 times what this one is offered for and there's a reason why this one is going to cost one smart and possibly lucky BMW enthusiast less money. This is a PROJECT BIKE.
It has been a little too long since we had a sweet, low mileage K1200S here to offer up to a quick thinking and discerning customer. These tend to not hang around too long. The K1200S remains one of Bob's personal favorites and he has one in his garage (a different color with similar options) that gets reasonably regular exercise. This one was sold new at Bob's and delivered in September of 2006 to the first of three owners. All have regularly returned to Bob's for maintenance and service needs all along. We've even had the good fortune to be involved with most of the in between transactions. And we love being in a position to share as much history on any given bike as it brings extra value and peace of mind to the equation and relationship.

To get this out at the start, we have priced this bike to SELL FAST, so be the lucky or smart buyer and recognize why we are doing this and that it is priced below market value. If it were not for a very worthy charitable cause, a time crunch due to Bob's left shoulder and an event that is fast approaching we would not price it this aggressively. It's a low mileage, pretty clean all around, nicely equipped BMW sport tourer that is typically very popular and usually sells for more money than we are asking. So while it is a good used bike it is still being sold as in "AS IS" condition because it was donated to us and all the usual disclaimers and conditions apply. They are all easily found to read on our website under the PROJECT BIKE section and there's a specific BILL OF SALE that applies. We always suggest you do this in advance of stopping by to inspect this bike, take it out for a good test ride and then decide if it's right for you. It's young enough and clean enough that if it was ours we'd have included it in our Advantage Certified program.
The K1200LT was a bike way ahead of its time. With features like electronic cruise control, electronic reverse, electronic windshield adjustment, AM/FM radio with cassette deck and 6-CD changer; this machine was truly a glimpse of the future. An instant classic; it took the luxury touring market by storm and stayed the king until handing the crown to its younger brother. But don't think for a moment that this bike has called it quits! With a strong 1200CC inline 4 cylinder motor and a plethora of creature comforts; this bike is ready to hit the road…after a little TLC.

It's in excellent condition and has the factory expandable BMW bags. New front tire with ZERO miles on it. It has heated grips. It's all stock except for a Remus exhaust, visor wind deflector, and an SW Motech tank bag. These bags are pricey and very practical. They're one pull quick release system attaches to a DC power mount. When it's mounted it provides DC power for accessories or for trickle charging while at home. Bob's BMW went over the whole bike and it was mechanically sound. They only had a couple suggestions. I bit the bullet and paid for them to replace the front tire since I can't do that on my own. They also suggested new plugs and a new coil wire but wanted an incredibly high amount for just plugs and a plug wire so that's something that could be done at a fraction of their cost. I have that documentation for the buyer.
2002 BMW 1200K RS at a steal. Gotta sell it, not really riding it. Bike comes with hard side cases (not shown), new heated grips, new battery purchased last summer, new brakes put on last summer, seat carrying case. Bike has a little over 23,600 miles on it and clean title. Bike was taken to shop last summer for routine readiness for riding and to get brake sensor light off. My mistake was I didn't take it to a BMW shop and brake sensor light is still on and bike over heats. For that reason alone bike has been super reduced because I don't have time to take it to BMW shop. So bike sold as is, but it's a really nice bike. Blue book lists for 5,200, for the reasons already noted letting it go for 4,000, OBO.
