Getting out of the motorcycling world, calling it quits, turning 62 next month. Rolled the dice long enough. I bought this bike new in '09 after riding my used '01 K1200 RS to almost 100K miles. This bike is in pieces as I was starting to tear it down to chase a fouled plug, I think. A little background, two years ago our daughter had a personal tradgedy in NYC so we went up and spent two weeks with her. once we got back I went out to crank the bike as I was gonna ride to work the next day, Monday, which I regularly did. The bike cranked up fine but had a very rough idle, fuel sat too long, or so I thought, it'll clear on the ride in the next day. Nope, got up that Monday morn, started the bike, same rough idle, road about 3 miles to the end of my road, still running rough, so, not wanting to break down on the side of the road I turned around and went home and pulled it up in the shed. I turned around after leaving the shed and noticed the exhaust was cherry red! Oh ****! What the heck! So I did a little checking up and reading and calling and found that there's and internal back pressure valve for low RPM in the exhaust. It seemed to be stuck shut. I disconnected the control wire to the valve and it failed open, yea, problem over! Nope. Cranked the bike, still running rough, did it clear on the test ride? Nope. Did some more reading and checking, could be the "Servo Motor" ($300 to replace?) which the control wire comes off of and has more tie-ins with the electronic engine managment or being old school was it simply a fouled plug? So, I started going after the fouled plug and that's the condition the bike is in now. Most of the fairing pulled, coolant drained, exhaust valve still disconnected. Come and get it please! It's a lovely machine, fun to ride, lots of power, has all options but nav. Saddle bags, tank bag, T-bag and other assorted personal geat if you want it too. Check out the pricing, asking $7 K, well under all book values, I'm thinkin if you put a grand in it to fix it up you'll have a lovley fast well built machine under book value. give me a holla. Oh, yeah, only 46 K miles on her.
