Big Dog Motorcycles, is known for producing factory custom choppers and cruisers that have the appearance and feel of unique custom-built bikes. In 2006, BDM carries over the Ridgeback, a chopper with optional seating for two. Like all BDM motorcycles, the 2006 Ridgeback is powered by the S&S 1,916 cc V-Twin four-stroke engine. The two cylinder powerplant is air cooled, and fed fuel via carburetor, with an oil capacity set at 3.5 quarts. This dependable engine has more than enough power to push the hefty 654 pound, nine foot long Ridgeback rider and passenger, and yet it still feels light on its toes. Fuel economy on the Big Dog Ridgeback is surprisingly good at 44 miles per gallon. The 2006 Big Dog Ridgeback""s Baker six-speed transmission is responsible for distributing the explosive power of the 1,916cc engine to the wheels, and works well across the powerband. While the primary drive runs via chain, the final drive runs on a one 1/8th inch belt. This combination gives quick rider input response, and smooth shifting. Cruising in sixth gear feels like a dream. The Big Dog Ridgeback earns its name due to its rigid rear suspension. In front is the 1.6 inch diameter telescopic fork, beautifully chromed and pushed out by the frame’s 39-degree rake. The massive frame is stretched a whopping 8 inches in the downtube, and four inches in the backbone. Despite the proportions of this bike, riding is comfortable and controllable due to the four inches of ground clearance, and excellent rider ergonomics. One of the biggest thrills of owning a chopper-style bike like this (besides actually riding), is the chance to customize it, and to make it truly an extension of one’s personality. The 2006 Big Dog Ridgeback is available in 18 color choices, all of them vibrant and nicely offset by extensive chrome detailing on every available surface of the bike. There are leather tool bags, various exhaust systems, and several hand grips to choose from. Luggage racks and a leather sissy bar bag make taking this bike on a road trip easy. You can choose and interchange between a single seat and a double. If you choose to carry a passenger, then you can select either a 12-inch or 18-inch sissy bar system. To keep your vision unobstructed, there is a choice between a 10.5-inch sport windscreen, in either clear or tinted versions. The choices of customization are really only limited by the imagination and wallet of the owner. Even at a quick glance, one of the first things people are bound to notice is the ultra-wide 300mm 18-inch rear tire on this Big Dog Ridgeback chopper. The heavy chrome wheel by Avon gives this bike a custom look that Big Dog Motorcycle fans have enjoyed for close to a decade. In front, a 21-inch Avon chrome wheel is wrapped by a MH90 tire. The Performance Machine 4 piston differential bore front brake controls stopping power on the Big Dog Ridgeback, while a matching Performance Machine 4 piston rear disc brake handles the rear. 2008 Big Dog Ridgeback chopper, 117 S&S, 6 speed transmission, 330 rear tire that has been recently replaced, 2into1 exhaust, twin spike air cleaner, pillion pad, and passenger foot pegs, sissy bay, tribal forward controls, custom levers. Bike has never been crashed, dropped, wrecked, or repainted. I am the original owner, and have a clean clear title in hand. I will not ship the bike, but will work with any shipper the buyer hires. PayPal payment of $500.00 due at auction end, with balance due at time of pickup in the form of cash, any other form of payment will need to clear the bank before the motorcycle, and title will be turned over to the winning bidder. The motorcycle is also listed in local paper and Craigslist, if the motorcycle sells before auction end, I will end, and cancel the auction.
