2016 KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition, 2016 KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition We Don´t Just Build Replicas. We build Factory Editions. Championship winning bikes, like this one. Thanks to its compact SOHC (single overhead camshaft) engine delivering explosive but controllable power, it is the weapon of choice for our Factory Teams around the world. Experts will notice its revolutionary WP AER 48 forks, the anodized triple clamps and sprocket, its upgraded Akrapovic muffler, the orange frame or the D.I.D DirtStar rims. The rest will only see a blur blasting past. Is it Ryan Dungey? Possibly. Or it could be you. Features may include: Airbox The new airbox design offers maximum protection of the air filter against soiling, while ensuring maximum airflow in conjunction with lighter intake snorkel that is made of a new material to reduce the deformation due to air intake pulse for improved performance. The new Twin Air filter is easier and safer to mount and can be changed without tools in seconds - a standard and original KTM feature. Battery and Wiring Harness As in the past, all new SX-F engines are fitted with the proven electric starter - a unique KTM feature and a major benefit at all levels of motocross racing. For 2016 the SX-F range fits a super compact and lightweight 1.1 lb lithium-ion starter battery into a standard motocross bike, providing safe starting of the engine and reducing the weight by 2.2 lbs over the 2015 model! Seat Ergonomically perfect, the new seat has a higher foam volume, which offers great comfort and durability, while weighing the same as the previous model. Frame The new frame design provides approximately 20 % higher torsional rigidity and 30 % less longitudinal stiffness, with newly designed engine stays for less vibration. This increased flexibility results in better absorption of the energy created from the front and rear wheel loads supporting the suspension for more comfort and less rider fatigue. A 0.4° steeper steering angle and a 10 mm shorter wheelbase contribute to better handling, and last but not least it´s lighter than the previous model. Swingarm The new SX-F generation features a reworked cast aluminum swingarm. The updated design offers reduced weight and an optimized flex behavior created with a single-component casting process. The weight reduction is 250 grams.
2016 KTM 450 SX-F, 2016 KTM 450 SX-F Holeshot Bragging Rights If maximum power is required, there is no other way but the 450 SX-F. This model has proven itself in the main championships around the world over the years. Thanks to its compact SOHC (single overhead camshaft) engine that delivers explosive but controllable power, it is the weapon of choice for the US KTM Factory Team and Ryan Dungey winning the AMA Supercross championship 2015. Features May Include: FRAME The new frame design provides approximately 20 % higher torsional rigidity and 30 % less longitudinal stiffness, with newly designed engine stays for less vibration. This increased flexibility results in better absorption of the energy created from the front and rear wheel loads supporting the suspension for more comfort and less rider fatigue. A 0.4° steeper steering angle and a 10 mm shorter wheel base contribute to better handling and last but not least it´s around 380 g lighter than the previous model. SWINGARM As on the predecessor models, the new SX generation features a reworked cast aluminium swingarm. The updated design offers reduced weight and an optimized flex behavior supporting the frame and suspension created with a single-component casting process. The weight reduction is 250 grams. MONOSHOCK The new generation of monoshock made by WP Suspension has been developed for the new SX models in conjunction with the new frame and swingarm architecture, including the reworked linkage system and the new WP forks. The linkage system has also been reworked with a revised geometry and longer pull rods, which was tested last season in most of the KTM factory bikes. FORKS The KTM SX models are fitted with a revolutionary new and super-lightweight WP fork, a 48 mm USD air-sprung fork developed by WP Suspension in close collaboration with KTM. It is a split fork with separate functions for each fork leg. The damping functions are on the right side, whereas the air spring is in the left. The left leg features a capsuled air cartridge. This air spring is easy to adjust to any rider weight via a single air valve and a standard fork air pump. The right fork leg integrates a completely new damping cartridge to fit single damping leg requirements, and the damping can be adjusted to the track conditions or the rider s preferences with a twist of a dial. The new fork with approximately 300 mm travel has outstanding response and excellent, very consistent damping characteristics, while also with a reduced weight of 1.4 kg compared to its predecessor. ENGINE With new features such as its much more compact dimensions, stronger performance throughout the rev range and a weight reduction of 1.8 kg, this newly developed powerplant is the lightest 450 engine on the MX market. With a reworked single overhead camshaft cylinder head and the latest electronic fuel injection, it is dist
2015 KTM 450 SX-F, 2015 KTM 450 SX-F POWER FOR ALL With the 450 SX-F, KTM has a winning motorcycle in its range, which derives its potential from a high-capacity engine and a chassis perfectly tuned to the power unit. The 450 SX-F is the no. 1 choice for the Red Bull/ KTM Factory Team in the AMA Championship. No wonder; the compact SOHC engine guarantees brutal yet controllable power with its revolutionary injection technology. Above all, the 450 SX-F scores highly compared with other large 4-strokes in terms of performance and handling. Ideal for every motocrosser who sees plenty of torque, ample on-tap power and a controllable ride as their complete package. Features May Include: Bodywork KTM engineers have focussed on designing the bodywork ergonomically and functionally in such a way that the whole motorcycle is in perfect harmony with the rider down to the very last detail. The front fender is a perfect example of how molded plastic components can gain maximum stability with a well thought out structure and well-conceived attachment. Graphics A new, refined graphic design with clear lines underlines the high demands made of a modern, state-of-the-art offroad motorcycle. Seat The ergonomically perfectly designed seat is equipped with a durable foam core, ensuring both generous comfort and high stability. Airbox At the same time, the design of the airbox guarantees optimum protection of the air filter from dirt plus maximum air throughput for the highest performance. Quick replacement of the twin-air filter - without tools and in a matter of seconds - has long since been an unrivalled KTM standard. Fuel Tank All models in the SX range are equipped with a 7.5 litre, lightweight polyethylene fuel tank. The fuel pump system used on the 4-stroke motocross models is the same as that used on the 4-stroke enduro models, thereby allowing optional fitting of larger tanks from the PowerParts range or from the enduro models. Handlebar All SX models are equipped with the extremely sturdy, tapered Renthal Fatbar 827 handlebar that features an offset specially designed to meet the demands of motocross. In accordance with the proven KTM standard, the handlebar can be fixed in a choice of four positions. For MY 2015, it is equipped with softer two-component grips to spare the rider's hands. Frame The modern frame design of the SX models, comprising lightweight, high strength, chrome-molybdenum steel section tubes, combines maximum longitudinal stiffness with optimum torsional stiffness. A forged and milled cross-tube connects the two frame halves with the connecting rod of the linkage on the new SX frame for 2015. Omission of the weld seams leads to very precise manufacturing tolerances and greater safety - moreover, it saves another 60 grams of weight. Linkage / Shock Absorber The revamped damping system f
