Now, the machine's success enters a new era with KTM's first AMA Supercross Championship courtesy of Ken Roczen in the highly contested 250 SX West series. Championship performance proven by two of the world's greatest - the KTM 250 SX-F is set to continue its dominant performance at the highest level. Featres May Include: AIR BOX The air box design offers maximum protection of the air filter against soiling while ensuring maximum airflow for top performance. The Twin Air filter can be changed without tools in seconds, a standard for KTM. ENGINE The KTM 250 SX-F all but guarantees top positions in highly competitive motocross competition as proven by a multitude of World Championships and KTM's first Supercross Championship. For 2014, KTM Engineers have implanted a lighter, 5-speed gear box into the powerplant to reduce weight and fine-tune MX performance. The combination of a compact engine layout and unrivaled power will make the 250 SX-F an undisputed winner. PISTONS The forged box-type piston stands out with its extra rigid structure, combined with minimum weight. Thanks to the low oscillating masses, the engine displays extremely lively characterisitics. CLUTCH The highly compact CSS (Coil Spring Steel) cltuch uses a wear-free steel basket and eight clutch plates which are extremely heat resistant due to their steel carrier discs. The Brembo hydraulic system with its new master cylinder provides easy and precise modulation. TRANSMISSION In 2014, the 250 SX-F engine is distinguished by a new gear box offering easy and precise shifting. As the number of gears has been reduced from 6 to 5, the new transmission is 250g lighter than its predecessor. COUNTER BALANCE SHAFT In order to balance the mass-forces, the 250 SX-F engine uses a multifunctional counter balance shaft which also drives the water pump and timing chain. The engine receives a new water pump cover with a new gasket in order to optimize the seal. CYLINDER HEAD The centerpiece of the compact DOHC engine is its cutting-edge cylinder head with two overhead camshafts and DLC-coated followers - a design that allows to break the engine speed "sound barrier" of 14,000 rpm. Features May Include: Bodywork KTM engineers have focussed on designing the bodywork ergonomically and functionally in such a way that the whole motorcycle is in perfect harmony with the rider down to the very last detail. The front fender is a perfect example of how moulded plastic components can gain maximum stability with a well thought out structure and well-conceived attachment. Seat The ergonomically perfectly designed seat is equipped with a durable foam core, ensuring both greater comfort and higher stability. 2015 KTM 250 SX-F Factory Edition, A whole new generation SX model motorcycle! Developed with weight reduction in mind, and improved mass centralization is designed to help on-track performance. The engine is designed to be lighter, more compact, and powerful with cases that are reshaped for more centralized rotating mass of the crankshaft and clutch. This helps reduce the overall length of the powerplant. In addition to re-worked Keihin engine management with a 44mm throttle body, the engine has new cylinder heads with revised valve trains. The combustion chambers are new, as are the ports, which are shaped for better performance. What s more, the new Factory Edition KTM has electronic launch control and a five-speed transmission said to provide precise and easy shifting. As for the SX-F chassis, it too has been substantially reworked. The chrome-moly frame is lighter, and KTM says it provides improved handling thanks in part to better energy absorption. The subframe and swingarm are lighter, too, while the motocross suspension with a WP 4CS fork and new WP shock has damping tuned specifically for the lighter chassis. KTM, of note, says the 250 SX-F is 7 lb. lighter than a standard 250 SX. As you d expect, KTM s Factory Edition models are very well equipped. In addition to limited-edition Red Bull KTM graphics, these new bikes wear a Selle Dalla Valle Factory Race Team seat, orange-anodized rubber mounted triple clamps, lightweight Galfer Wave rotors, CNC-machined hubs, and high-end Excel rims fitted with Dunlop Geomax MX32 tires.
